Meet Rory! Like many Underdogs before here, Rory had a bit of a rocky start to life through no fault of her own. She has absolutely blossomed in foster and is eager to please. Rory is a smart and adorable puppy. She loves all people and is learning that belly rubs are the best. She grows more confident every day and it brings out more of her quirky personality. Rory is quite a funny girl with her happy dances and running zoomy circles in the yard. She is the gentlest soul and loves to play with her toys and chew on sticks. Rory loves food, learning tricks, and carrying things around in her mouth when she's excited. She is potty trained and is doing well in her crate training in her current foster.
Rory's story:
Underdog received an email from an Eastern Washington shelter looking for a rescue to take in a sweet, neglected puppy. Rory was a part of an animal abuse case. She was removed from her owner due to neglect. She was found underweight and with a broken leg. She was taken by animal control and received x-rays from a local vet that confirmed she had a previous injury with a healing femur bone. She was on many weeks of crate rest during her time in foster. She has done extremely well with limited activity and has kept a curious personality.
Through her time in foster, she has had the time to rest and let her body heal. Now that she's feeling better, she is full of zoomies and energy. She is still quite demure for a puppy, but she should grow more energetic as she grows more confident and into her adult self. She is quick to learn tricks and has "sit" and "place" down very well. Rory is a big kisser!
Rory has been loving playing with her foster brother. Rory could go home as a separate dog or could love a new canine buddy. Rory enjoys playing chase and tug-a-war. She is a puppy and doesn't understand boundaries. Any new canine friend should be patient and active.
Rory is quite a sweet and gentle puppy, BUT she is a puppy. She will need continued training to ensure she continues her good house manners. She can struggle with boundaries and holding still for longer periods of time. She is doing better at leash training, but is stubborn when the walk isn't going in the direction she wants. She can be a sassy little girl, but does listen quite well as she can be sensitive to direction. She will need a soft and patient owner. She is currently 25 lbs as a 5-month-old, so it is estimated she will be on the large side when she is fully grown (50-60lbs).
