Kitten weight log
Kittens should be gaining weight every day, and approximately 3-4 ounces a week. If you notice your foster kitten's weight gain stopping, or even dropping, notify Underdog immediately so we can start the medical process of figuring out why.

Use the button below to make your own copy of our kitten weight spreadsheet (don't edit the original, other folks might accidentally move your data!), and be sure to send a sharing link to foster@underdogpetswa.org so we can follow along.

Even with a momma taking care of them, you need to weigh neonates daily at the same time to ensure they're all gaining consistently. Sometimes kittens need supplemental feeding if they're being out competed for a nipple by siblings, or if there are many kittens in the litter.

If the kitten has parasites, they can lose weight despite you visually seeing them eat. Just seeing how much food disappears is not enough to make sure they're gaining! Take a look at the ASPCA kitten chart below to see if your kittens are hitting their milestones.
